FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need to prepare for my appointment?

There is no specific preparation unless you are given different instructions when you make your booking. However, we wouldn’t recommend drinking coffee or caffeinated drinks ahead of your appointment as if you go on to have diagnostic tests this can speed up your heart rate.

What will happen at my first consultation?

At your first consultation, regardless of whether it is virtual or in person, you will meet with a consultant cardiologist and discuss your symptoms and concerns. Then you will be asked a series of questions about your lifestyle and family history. We will then recommend next steps. If you prefer you can take this recommendation (in the form of a letter or PDF) back to your GP or hospital and request to have the tests carried out on the NHS. Or if you would prefer, we can carry out any tests here at the clinic, often on the same day as your consultation or very soon afterwards.

What should I wear for my consultation?

For your first consultation please feel free to wear whatever is comfortable for you. However, as we may go on to carry out tests, in some cases, directly after the consultation, it is advisable to wear something loose fitting. For some of the diagnostic tests we might ask you to get changed and put on a hospital gown whilst we are taking the test. We have changing rooms on site.

When will I get the results of my tests?

In most cases the cardiologists will be able to give you the results immediately after the appointment or the next day.

What will happen after my consultation?

After the consultation you will be given a bespoke treatment plan for you to either take back to your GP or into hospital or we can carry out further diagnostics right here in the clinic – often immediately after the appointment if that is your preference. Our doctors are very happy to liaise directly with your GP or other care providers if there is anything else they need to know.

I've booked an appointment online but don't know which service or package to select?

Don’t worry, when you come down for the initial consultation, we will be able to advise you as to which package / service would be suitable for you. This can be offered on the day immediately following your clinical consultation. Or, if you choose, we can refer you back into NHS services or advise your GP accordingly.

Will my medical insurance cover the cost of the consultation or test?

If you have medical insurance you would need to contact your insurer to pre-authorise any appointments with us. We are more than happy to help answer any questions you may have regarding insurance cover, please get in touch on 01925 748245 to speak to one of the Venturi team.
