Pricing and FAQs

At Venturi Cardiology, we’re dedicated to making your healthcare more affordable, and we take pride in our transparent pricing. All appointment fees include your reports and images, when applicable.

Clinical Consultation - £250

We offer clinical consultations at Venturi in Birchwood, Warrington. Starting with a comprehensive consultation and cardiovascular examination by a Venturi consultant cardiologist. Following the examination, you will be advised of any testing that we would recommend. You can choose to have these tests with Venturi or be referred back to the NHS if you prefer.

Video Consultation - £200

If you can’t or would rather not travel, we also offer an online consultation service. As with our clinical consultation any ongoing care or investigation that is recommended can be done within Venturi or referred back into NHS service. As with all our Venturi consultations you will receive a letter outlining the outcome of the consultation and recommendations.

Echocardiogram - £275

An echocardiogram – also known as an echo – is a non-invasive test that uses soundwaves to build up pictures of your heart. It’s the same kind of ultrasound technology that is used to scan pregnant women, as well as a range of other health applications.

Electrocardiogram (ECG) - £85

An electrocardiogram (ECG – or EKG in the US) is a standard non-invasive cardiovascular test that records the electrical activity of your heart to measure its rate and rhythm. The recorded electrical waves can be analysed to look for evidence of cardiovascular problems including (but not limited to) heart chamber enlargement, heart muscle thickness and previous heart muscle damage.

At Venturi Cardiology we conduct 12-lead ECG scans, which are then analysed by a consultant cardiologist. They will explain the results to you and how they relate to the condition of your heart. An ECG is usually one of the first tests that you will have and is often a test that is repeated to monitor changes over time.

We will provide you and your GP with a copy of your ECG and the report so it can be referred back to if necessary. If you have had an ECG before and a copy is available, then we can make comparisons when we do ours, in order to look for any significant changes.

Exercise Tolerance Test (ETT) - £350

This allows cardiologists to measure the heart electrical activity and blood flow during exercise. This test is useful for the diagnosis of angina and heart rhythm issues during exercise. This test is often required by DVLA for certification of drivers after heart issues.

Stress Echocardiography - from £425

A stress echocardiogram, also known as a stress echo, is a painless ultrasound scan that assesses how well your heart works when it’s under stress. It’s often used to diagnose or assess angina, a type of chest pain associated with coronary artery disease.

Lipid Profile - £76

A lipid profile test, also known as a cholesterol or lipid panel test, measures the levels of fats and cholesterol in your blood. It can help predict your risk of heart disease and stroke, and may be ordered if you have a family history of these conditions, or if you have other risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or being overweight.

BNP (NT-pro BNP) - from £81

NTProBNP is a blood test that can indicate if you have heart failure. If it is positive, it usually means you would need an echocardiogram to assess the heart pumping function and valves. Having the test is straight forward and involves a quick finger prick blood sample

CT Coronary Angiogram - £950

This is one of the more detailed types of scan available. X-ray dye is injected through a small tube in your arm vein, and the scan is timed to take pictures of the colouring travelling through your coronary arteries. The scans are reconstructed using software to create highly detailed 2D and 3D images of the vessel. These images can show narrowing due to soft plaque with a high degree of accuracy. Soft, mixed plaques are more likely to cause heart attacks. If no plaque is visible your risk of a cardiac event is extremely low.

Urea and Electrolytes Blood Tests - £76

A urea and electrolytes (U&E) blood test measures chemicals in the blood, such as urea, sodium, potassium and creatinine, to assess kidney function and fluid and electrolyte status. The test can also help investigate acid-base disturbances and provide information about blood volume and pH.

Calcium Score - £300

A calcium score test, also known as a cardiac CT calcium score, measures the amount of calcium in the walls of your heart’s arteries. This test can help your doctor estimate your risk of heart attack, stroke, or heart disease.

Holter Monitor - From £225

A Holter monitor is a small, wearable device that records the heart’s rhythm, from 24 hours up to 14 days depending on your requirements.

Heart Flow Package - £2000

The HeartFlow Analysis uses data from a standard coronary CT scan to create a detailed, personalised 3D model of your coronary arteries. Using advanced computer algorithms, it assesses how any blockages may be affecting blood flow to your heart. This provides a highly accurate evaluation of your heart health without the need for an invasive procedure such as a coronary angiogram.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need to prepare for my appointment?

There is no specific preparation unless you are given different instructions when you make your booking. However, we wouldn’t recommend drinking coffee or caffeinated drinks ahead of your appointment as if you go on to have diagnostic tests this can speed up your heart rate.

What will happen at my first consultation?

At your first consultation, regardless of whether it is virtual or in person, you will meet with a consultant cardiologist and discuss your symptoms and concerns. Then you will be asked a series of questions about your lifestyle and family history. We will then recommend next steps. If you prefer you can take this recommendation (in the form of a letter or PDF) back to your GP or hospital and request to have the tests carried out on the NHS. Or if you would prefer, we can carry out any tests here at the clinic, often on the same day as your consultation or very soon afterwards.

What should I wear for my consultation?

For your first consultation please feel free to wear whatever is comfortable for you. However, as we may go on to carry out tests, in some cases, directly after the consultation, it is advisable to wear something loose fitting. For some of the diagnostic tests we might ask you to get changed and put on a hospital gown whilst we are taking the test. We have changing rooms on site.

When will I get the results of my tests?

In most cases the cardiologists will be able to give you the results immediately after the appointment or the next day.

What will happen after my consultation?

After the consultation you will be given a bespoke treatment plan for you to either take back to your GP or into hospital or we can carry out further diagnostics right here in the clinic – often immediately after the appointment if that is your preference. Our doctors are very happy to liaise directly with your GP or other care providers if there is anything else they need to know.

I've booked an appointment online but don't know which service or package to select?

Don’t worry, when you come down for the initial consultation, we will be able to advise you as to which package / service would be suitable for you. This can be offered on the day immediately following your clinical consultation. Or, if you choose, we can refer you back into NHS services or advise your GP accordingly.

Will my medical insurance cover the cost of the consultation or test?

If you have medical insurance you would need to contact your insurer to pre-authorise any appointments with us. We are more than happy to help answer any questions you may have regarding insurance cover, please get in touch on 01925 748245 to speak to one of the Venturi team.
