An interactive and informative event for GPs, practice nurses and other healthcare professionals

DATE: Thursday 30th March, 18.30 – 20.00

VENUE: Venturi Cardiology, 4 The Square, 740 Birchwood Boulevard, Warrington WA3 7QY

Treating high cholesterol is a priority in the NHS Long Term Plan. It has a major impact on cardiovascular disease (CVD), currently the biggest cause of death in the UK.

During this interactive session, we will look at cholesterol and lipid management in a primary care setting. You will hear from Dr Scott Murray, founder and clinical director at Venturi Cardiology and past-president of the British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (BACPR) and Dr David Unwin, the Low Carb GP. We will also have some case studies from recent patients and a patient story.

The session will cover:

• When should you refer on for further investigations, such as advanced lipids, a calcium score

test or a CT coronary angiogram.

• Shared decision making with patients who are reluctant to take statins.

• Options if a patient is borderline Q risk but has a family history of CVD.

We also want to hear from you. What is making the CVD pathway hard and how can we help?
